What I’m Reading This Week #41

Each week I share books I’m reading for my 2016 Reading Challenge, as well as podcasts I’m listening to and links I love from around the blogosphere.  I love to get recommendations, so please let me know what you are reading!

What I’m Reading

all in

All In by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

The third book in The Naturals series, All In continues the story of Cassie and the four other “naturals.”  These five teenagers are naturals at solving crime.  With their innate gifts, they can see things that even FBI profilers cannot.  The Naturals are called upon to investigate a string of murders in Las Vegas, where they uncover a shocking secret that is centuries in the making.  If you haven’t read any of the series, I would recommend starting with first book, The Naturals, which has been called a “Criminal Minds” for teens.  Very suspenseful thriller!

a long fatal love chase

A Long Fatal Love Chase by Louisa May Alcott

I had not heard of this Louisa May Alcott book until a few months ago.  I have loved all of her children’s/ young adult novels (Little Men and An Old Fashioned Girl being my favorites), but I didn’t realize that she had an unpublished adult novel.  The book centers around the relationship between Rose and Tempest–symbolically named.  Rose is a fair, innocent young woman who is so bored with her isolated life that she eagerly and willingly marries the first man who comes along (literally).  Tempest is a man with a past, and he proves the ruin of Rose’s life.  I have not finished the book yet, so I will withhold judgement.  So far, I still prefer the other Alcott books.

Hi Florence! Thanks for the recommendations! I love seeing which biographies and nonfiction books you are reading. I would tend to read YA fiction almost exclusively, so it’s good to find great books in other genres.

I’m slowly reading Greatest Words Spoken By Jesus. Basically verses from the Bible that He spoke. The format is interesting. Not sure if I like it or not.
I love your link list!!! Especially the tucking your teens in. My oldest as are 10 and 12 and still “make us” cover them with their blankets and our normal little kid routine we’ve always done. When we get lazy about it, they don’t let us off the hook lol. But it is a good way to connect and finish out the day 🙂

It’s good to know that your older kids still want that routine. My kiddos are still little, but I hope they want to spend that time with us when they are older!
