What I’m Reading This Week

Each week I hope to share the books that I am currently reading for my Read 100 Challenge, as well as interesting links related to faith, family, and frugal living.

Books I’m Reading

The Way of a Pilgrim   translated by Olga Savin

I finished reading The Way of a Pilgrim this week as a Holy Week discipline.  I was very humbled and inspired by this classic of Orthodox spirituality.  The pilgrim learns to pray the Jesus Prayer (Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me) so that it becomes an unceasing interior prayer and transforms his life.  I was humbled, realizing how often I rush through prayers.  If you haven’t read The Way of a Pilgrim yet, I highly recommend it.

I read The Way of the Pilgrim over Lent as well. It made me take a long, hard look at how many trivial things I spend my time on. Hope you had a blessed Pascha!

Hi, Erica. I think I may try to make The Way of a Pilgrim a regular part of my Lenten discipline. I was so challenged to examine my speech, my interactions with others, and my prayer life. It is definitely a book that is impacting me daily, even after I have read it. Have a blessed bright week. Christ is risen!
