Weekly Goals: Week of September 14

Happy Monday!  I hope that you all had a great relaxing weekend.  I am really excited to tell you about one of the goals that I reached last week.  It was an extremely small, baby step toward one of my larger (and scarier!) goals for this year.

I registered for my first 5K!

I am now committed to running a 5K on October 31.  Whew, that’s frightening!  I know that some of you run half marathons and marathons all of the time–and I really admire you.  This is a pretty big step for me, however, and I am proud of myself for even trying.

You see, back in high school I was on the track team and ran the mile.  And I guess I got stuck in the mile mentality.  Once I hit that first mile, my body feels like it is finished.  So, now I need to work on building my endurance so that I can run farther.  This is one of those times when goal-setting is so important.

I have my big goal in front of me:  to run a 5K.  Each week I am going to take baby steps toward reaching that goal:  miles run, miles walked, etc.  By the time that the day of the race arrives, I hope to be in good enough shape to run the race with confidence.  Wish me luck!

Last Week’s Goals

Spiritual:

1.Pray one psalm a day

2. Read I Timothy

Professional:

3. Post one new product on Teachers Pay Teachers

10. Register for a 5K (Yippee!)

11. Continue 9:30 bedtime and 5:30 wake up time on weekdays (I did not get up early this week.  Perhaps I was still recovering from our long weekend of camping?  Perhaps my thyroid was acting up?  I hope to get back into the habit of early rising again this week.)

12. Read 2 books

I’ve been thinking of signing up for a 5K, which I probably wouldn’t run, but would at least give me a reason to get my steps in each week! I also definitely need to add some faith goals to my list. Here’s my goals for the week: http://www.mediumsizedfamily.com/work-the-plan-goals-for-the-week-914/

How many steps do you try to get per week? I’ve been thinking of adding a similar goal to my list.

That’s awesome you are going to do a 5k! They’re so fun, believe it or not :-). We do them as a fun family event, or my husband and I have done them together. You can do it! Great goals! I am working on sleep goals lately. Trying to get in bed by 10 and up by 5. So far I am unsuccessful. But I’m getting closer :-). Great post!

I’m really impressed that you do many 5Ks! I’m upping my game a bit this week and will be running 1.5 miles at a time. I still have 5 weeks to train for the race, so I think I’m on track. Have you taken Crystal Paine’s Make Over Your Mornings Course? It’s really inspiring. I would highly recommend it!
