Weekly Goals: November 9

This week I had the most wonderful Wednesday evening.  Do you want to know what I did?  Absolutely nothing.  And it was heavenly.  I realized that I had not had an evening off in a REALLY long time.

So I put my kids to bed Ridiculously Early and watched Jeopardy, brewed a pot of tea, teapot-691729_640read for fun, and then read from the Bible.  My husband was working late, so I had the house to myself.  As I was relishing the quiet and reading from the book of James, I felt completely at peace.

I want to make this a part of my weekly routine:  one night where I leave my laptop at school and just relax.  A Sabbath of sorts.  I’ve learned over my years of goal-setting, that if I want to make something a priority in my life, I need to add it to my weekly goals.  This helps me take my new resolution seriously instead of relegating it to the theoretical realm.

How about you?  Have you incorporated enough rest into your schedule?  Would giving yourself an early bedtime this week or setting aside one night for self-care help center you?  Put it into your planner!  Tell your spouse about your bedtime and ask them to keep you accountable.  Find tricks that work for you, that help you get the rest, the Sabbath, that you need.
