Weekly Goals August 31

Hello, friends!  This week I am actually a little nervous about posting my weekly goals.  You see, one of my goals this week involves getting up earlier than I have for a l-o-n-g time.  As I have been listening to Crystal Paine’s audio course Make Over Your Mornings, I have become inspired to use my mornings more purposefully.  (You can read more about that here when I describe One Simple Thing That Has Completely Changed My Mornings.)

And so I am implementing a new routine this week.  I fully expect to fall on my face a few times as I try to get into this new habit of waking up before my kids, but I want to keep trying until it becomes second nature.  I may have to tweak a few things along the way, but here is the basic routine I will be starting:

5:30

Wake up and go to my Icon Corner

Pray the full version of the Morning Prayers (we typically shorten them when we pray as a family)

Pray/chant three psalms

Write for 10 minutes on my book

Start a load of laundry

6:00

Get kids up and begin my old Morning Routine

Wish me luck as I start this new routine!  I will let you know next week how it is going.

Last Week’s Goals

Spiritual:

1. Morning Prayers 3 Days as a Family (Because I began waking up before my kids, it was SO much easier to find time to pray this week!)

2. Read I Thessalonians

Professional:

3. Grade Beginning of the Year Assessments

4. Make Parent E-mail groups and send first e-mail

Family/ Homemaking:

5. Have an in-house date night with my husband (We watched an episode of The Astronaut Wives Club and gave backrubs.)

6. Have a movie night with the kids (We watched Frozen, which Sister had gotten for her birthday.)

7. Sort through kids’ clothes and get bags ready to take to consignment shop

Personal:

8. Run 2 times

9. Be in bed by 10 each night (I did every night except for Saturday, which was our date night.  I guess that is pretty good!)

10. Read 2 books (You can read more about that here.)

This Week’s Goals

Spiritual:

1.Pray the Morning Prayer together as a family 4 times

2. Read II Thessalonians

Professional:

3. Read my Beginning of the Year surveys and take notes on the kids’ responses

Family/ Homemaking:

5. Clean the house before my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew come to visit
