The Only 6 Blogs That I Follow

I used to be a blog junkie.  I loved reading multiple blogs and regularly spent an hour or more a day on my habit.

These days, I am more selective about the blogs that I follow.  I only read blogs that encourage me or, sometimes, challenge me.  These are blogs that add something to my life: interesting ideas, practical tips, or recommendations.  They also tend to be by bloggers whom I feel a connection with.

With that said, today I wanted to share:

The Only 6 Blogs That I Follow

Modern Mrs. Darcy

Type of Blog: Book/ Lifestyle

Post Frequency: 5 times a week

Why I Follow It: Anne gives the absolute best book recommendations!  Seriously 3/4 of my “Books to Read” list comes from this website. Anne’s descriptions of books are completely spot on.  If I like her description of the book, I know that I will love the book itself. She also has a podcast called “What Should I Read Next” that is great!

Money Saving Mom

Type of Blog: Frugal Living, Time Management

Post Frequency: Five Times a Week

Why I Follow It: I first started following Money Saving Mom when we were on a super tight budget.  I learned so much about couponing, freezer cooking, and frugal living!  Now I prefer the posts that are about Crystal’s life, time management, or routines.

Laura Vanderkam

Type of Blog: Time Management

Post Frequency: 4-5 times a week

Why I Follow It: I really enjoyed Laura Vanderkam’s books 168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think and I Know How She Does It.  Her novel ideas about time management, intentional living, and planning your weekends intrigue me.  The blog extends out Vanderkam’s ideas found in the books and gives insight into how she incorporates those principles into her own personal and family life.

The Daily Connoisseur

Type of Blog: Lifestyle

Post Frequency: 3 times a week

Why I Follow It: Jennifer L. Scott wrote Lessons from Madame Chic and two other books about life-changing lessons she learned while living in Paris.  These lessons range from style (the 10 item wardrobe) to homemaking (no clutter!) to food (all things in moderation).  Her blog expands those ideas and is filled with interesting videos.

Charming the Birds from the Trees

Type of Blog: Orthodox family, photography

Post Frequency: 3-5 times a week

Why I Follow It: I love the calm, peaceful view of an Orthodox home that Matushka Emily shares on her blog.  Each post is incredibly short and generally consists primarily of pictures.  She also has archives about observing feasts as a family and raising children in the faith.

Six Figures Under

Type of Blog: Personal Finance, Frugal Living

Post Frequency: 1 times per week

Why I Follow It: I began following Stephanie’s blog several years ago when she and her husband were committed to paying off six figures of debt (from a law degree) in three years.  She shared their monthly budget along with the amount put toward debt repayment.  Articles on ways to save money and to enjoy living frugally are also found.
