What I’m Reading: August Edition

Each month I share the books I have been reading as a part of The 2016 Reading Challenge, as well as books I have read for fun.  I hope that these quick reviews provide you with some new titles to add to your list of Books to Read.

book boss

Book Boss by Abby Lawson

Ok, so this isn’t technically a book, but I have been spending a lot of time reading and working on it!  Book Boss is a fantastic course written and taught by Abby Lawson, of Just a Girl and Her Blog, that will help you create and launch a profitable e-book in 90 days.  If you’ve ever thought about writing an e-book, this is absolutely the best resource available to help you.  I have been working REALLY hard over the past few weeks on my upcoming e-book.  The book is called Seasons of the Faith: Helping Your Family Celebrate the Feasts and Fasts of the Church.  You can sign up HERE to receive news (and a discount!) when it comes available!

guide for the domestic church

Guide for the Domestic Church by Diocese of Newton

Guide for the Domestic Church is a “how-to manual” of sorts for creating an Orthodox home.  Since that is precisely the type of writing that I do here on the blog, I wanted to be sure to check it out.  I found a lot of good information about observing the sacraments, the Church calendar, and creating a little Church at home.  It would be a good resource for any Orthodox household.

eat that frog

Eat That Frog: 21 Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done by Brian Tracy

Eat That Frog gets its title from the quote attributed to Mark Twain that if you eat a frog in the morning, nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.  The idea is that if you do your most difficult tasks first thing in the morning, the rest of your day will go much easier.  There are many practical ideas for how to do this along with other time management tips.  Definitely a quick read that you will think about for a long time after!

I also reread part of the Harry Potter series and listened to the first one on our family vacation.  My son is hooked now, which I love!

You are at least the third person I know who is reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. I must need to read it, too! What do you think about it? Would you recommend it?

Welcome!
