Good-bye to The Orthodox Mama

Hello Friends!

As you could see from the post title, I have decided to change the name of this blog.

Over the last couple of months I have been working behind the scenes to make some changes on the blog, and now I get to (finally!) share those changes with you:

The Orthodox Mama is now Orthodox Motherhood.

When I first started blogging nearly two years ago, I thought long and hard to come up with a name. I wanted a name that was easily recognizable and that would let the reader know what type of content to expect. However, something about the name never quite sat right with me.

You see, by calling the blog The Orthodox Mama, it sounded as though I were the primary focus. Me. I am “the Orthodox mama.” However, that just isn’t true. I am one of many, one of millions, of Orthodox mamas. What I have to offer the world is just one small drop in the deep ocean of Orthodox experience.

And so, I am changing the name. The Orthodox Mama will become Orthodox Motherhood.

Because it is not just about me and my small experience. I want the blog to be about and for all Orthodox mothers.

For the most part, the blog will remain largely the same. You can still expect to find articles on Orthodoxy, on motherhood, and on trying to live out the ancient faith in the modern world.

You can expect posts like Ways to Involve Children in Great Lent. Posts that will give you practical ideas or ways to help your home life intersect with the life of the Church.

You can also expect some more personal posts about my life and what I am learning– How I Read 100 Books a Year.

You can also expect book reviews, home management tips, Orthodox resources, and thoughts on motherhood.

Here are a few things that will be different:

1. Other Voices

I hope to provide a space for other Orthodox mothers to share their experiences. If you would like to write a guest post, please feel free to send me an e-mail.

2. Greater Focus

More of the posts on the blog will be focused on Orthodoxy, motherhood, and home management. While I will still occasionally post about other topics, I want to narrow down in order to go deeper.

3. Different Posting Schedule

I will now be posting 2 times a week: on Mondays and Thursdays. I am cutting back in order to provide deeper, richer content and to spend more time with my family.

If you happen to search for “The Orthodox Mama” on Google or click on a post you’ve saved on Pinterest, you will be automatically redirected to the new site. So, no worries there.

If you have any questions or comments, I am happy to respond!

I pray that you have a wonderful day.

Love,

Sarah
