What I’m Reading This Week #32 (Plus a Giveaway!)

Each week I share books I’m reading for my Read 100 Challenge, as well as podcasts I’m listening to and links I love from around the blogosphere.  I love to get recommendations, so please let me know what you are reading!

I have something really exciting to share with you guys today.  I completed my Read 100 Challenge!  I read my 100th book of 2015 on Tuesday!  Woohoo!

So, in honor of this accomplishment, I want to have my first giveaway here on The Orthodox Mama.  At the end of the post you will find out how you can win these 5 Books.

Giveaway

Tea and Crumples by Summer Kinard

Sienna has just opened up a tea shop and begun to create a community there when she receives terrible news about her husband’s health.  Faith, hope, love, and tea.  A beautiful book.  Read my full review.

Aftermath by Rhidian Brook

A best-seller set in post-WWII Germany.  Rachel Morgan arrives in Hamburg with her son, and finds that she will be sharing a house with a German widower and his son.  An emotional thriller.

The Divine Adventure by Tomas Alvarez

An interesting account of the life of St. Theresa of Avila and her journey to found numerous abbeys across Spain.

The Dinner by Herman Koch

A dark tale of two families who meet for dinner to try to make a hard decision.  An international bestseller that was quite controversial.

Money Making Mom by Crystal Paine

Newly released book by best-selling author Crystal Paine of the blog Money Saving Mom.  Paine shares her experiences as well as practical tips for the entrepreneurial woman.  Read my full review.

What I’m Reading This Week

This past week I read two books–numbers 99 and 100!

madame chic

Lessons from Madame Chic: 20 Stylish Secrets I Learned While Living in Paris by Jennifer L. Scott

I confess to being a bit of a Francophile when it comes to food and fashion.  So, I enjoyed this light, quick read.  Scott shares some fun stories from her experience as a college student living with a French family in Paris.  She also gives some insights into French style, food, and culture as well as practical ideas for implementing them in your own life.  My biggest takeaway?  Stop and enjoy the daily pleasures of life.

mockingjay

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Can you believe that I had never read the final installment of The Hunger Games trilogy?  I read the first two a few years ago but somehow never got around to reading the third book.  I had heard a lot of mixed reviews about it and thought I might be disappointed by it.  While I did find a few scenes jarring, overall I found Mockingjay to be a satisfying conclusion to the series.

Giveaway

And now for the giveaway!  You can enter the giveaway below for a chance to win the five books mentioned above.  A winner will be randomly selected and then contacted by e-mail.  This giveaway ends in one week on November 21.  Thank you all for sharing in my crazy reading goal.  I have been encouraged by you and hope that I have inspired you in your own reading.  Good luck!

Wow! 100 books is a big deal! Good for you! Someday I may be able to read that number in a year, but not for now with a new baby in the house. But I am happy that I’m almost finished with Les Miserables (maybe that should count as about 5 books?) .

That totally counts as five books!

I think the WWII book sounds very intriguing. I’m a big preWWII and European theater WWII buff 🙂

The Aftermath and the Dinner sounds intriguing. Though I need to read Summer’s book first as I know her! I think it will be wonderful.

That’s awesome!!! I’m trying to hit 90 this year and might have to pick some shorter ones to hit the goal (I blame long classics!). What were your top 10 books of 2015?

  12. Laura says

    November 16, 2015 at 1:57 am

Oh, and The Divine Adventure would be the one I’d be most excited about.

The Aftermath is the one I am most interested in, but they all sound interesting. I took part in Modern Mrs. Darcy 12 book reading challenge this year, so have been tracking my reading this year, but I am nowhere near one hundred. Very impressive!

What fun- I haven’t read Money Saving Mom, and I enjoy her blog; so that would be fun. But the others look intriguing too!

Way to go! The last time I read 100 books was back in 2013 before my son was born. Of course, if we counted children’s books I could do that in just one week or two now! 🙂

Wow, congrats on reaching your goal! My goal is always around 50 and I’m way below this year, just more time blogging than reading I guess. This is a great giveaway, thanks for the chance to win. I really want to read Crystal’s newest book. Thanks for sharing with Small Victories Sunday Linkup. Pinning to our linkup board and hope you found some great posts to visit this week!
